COVID-19 – Northern Panhandle

Ohio County

Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department is announcing ten (10) new positive cases of COVID-19 and a second death in Ohio County.  Currently, the health department reports a total of 135 positive cases, including one death.  Case surveillance contact tracing and monitoring continues for many of the reported cases. 

The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department continues to monitor an outbreak of COVID-19 at the First Baptist Church in Wheeling, WV.  At this time, the health department has identified 15 direct cases and 6 indirect cases of COVID-19 linked to the church.  The church leadership is working with the health department to insure all people exposed have been contacted and tested.

Ohio County and Ohio Valley residents are advised to limit public contact, implement social distancing, work at home where possible, wear a face covering when out in public, indoors or at work, wash your hands frequently and contact your personal physician if you become ill with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.

Marshall County

Marshall County Health Department received confirmation of 6 additional new positive Novel Coronavirus COVID-19 cases in Marshall County.  The first individual is a female in her 30’s who is reporting mild symptoms.  The second is a female in her 40’s who is also reporting mild symptoms.  The third is a 4 year old who is exhibiting severe symptoms.  The fourth and fifth are females in their teens, who are asymptomatic and moderate symptoms, respectively.  The sixth is a female in her 30’s who is reporting mild symptoms.  All are currently in isolation at home.  Marshall County Health Department staff will be checking in with them daily checking symptoms and temperature.

This brings Marshall County to a total of 69 confirmed cases and 1 probable case, 23 of which are in isolation at home along with 1 hospitalized and 46 whom have been released from isolation.
