Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department is announcing two (2) new positive cases of COVID-19 in Ohio County.  These are cases from Friday evening to Sunday morning.  Currently, the health department reports a total of 271 cases, including three (3) probable cases and four deaths.  Case surveillance contact tracing and monitoring continues for many of the reported cases.

The Health Department and Wheeling-Ohio County Emergency Management Agency will be holding COVID-19 testing at West Liberty University on August 14th, 15th, 16th, 17th and at Wheeling University on August 18th, 21st, and 23rd.  Clinics are held from 9:00am to 4:00pm and are for all students, faculty, employees, and vendors at each facility.  More information on location, dates and requirements are on our website.

A COVID-19 testing clinic is also being held at Bethany College on August 14th and 15th from 9:00am to 4:00pm at Hummel Field House.  For more information on this clinic contact the Brooke County Health Department at (304) 737-3665.

Investigation to date indicates that cases are associated with resident and nonresident vacation travel, group events including family gatherings, and cases with no other risk factor, which can be an indicator of active community spread.  The Wheeling-Ohio County Health Department continues to monitor local outbreaks.

Ohio County and Ohio Valley residents are advised to limit public contact, implement social distancing, work at home where possible, wear a face covering when out in public, indoors or at work, wash your hands frequently and contact your personal physician if you become ill with fever, cough, or difficulty breathing.
