Meredith Dailer, an educational, administrative and athletic leader at Wheeling Park High School and Ohio County Schools, has been named as Park’s new principal.
The Ohio County Board of Education named Dailer as the school’s new principal at its regular meeting on Tuesday. Dailer has served as the school’s associate principal since 2018, and she will take over as principal on July 1.
“I am humbled to be given the opportunity to lead this amazing school,” she said. “I truly appreciate the tradition of excellence at Wheeling Park, and I am dedicated to moving those traditions forward.”
Ohio County Schools Superintendent Kimberly Miller said she couldn’t be more confident in Dailer’s ability to lead the school.
“Ms. Dailer has proven herself in every role she’s taken on,” Miller said. “She’s been an excellent teacher, coach and administrator. Meredith loves Wheeling Park High School and its students, and I know she will be successful.”
Dailer came to Wheeling Park High School in 2007 as a social studies teacher, and she served in that role until 2015. She also served as head coach of the Wheeling Park girls basketball team from 2007-2012 leading the team to sectional and regional championships in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Dailer is a 1997 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. She earned her bachelor’s degree in education and secondary social studies from Fairmont State University In 2001. In 2004, she earned her master’s degree in education and secondary social studies from West Virginia University before earning a master’s degree in educational leadership from Wheeling Jesuit University in 2015.
Dailer is a National Board Certified teacher, and she currently serves as the chair of the Ohio County Schools Professional Development Council. She served as the Wheeling Park High School Faculty Senate chair from 2009-2015. Dailer is taking over for Amy Minch, who resigned the principal’s position to become Ohio County Schools attendance director.
Dailer and her husband, Jacob, are Wheeling residents. They are the parents of eight-year-old Tessa and six-year-old Cal. Tessa is a student at Steenrod Elementary School, and Cal will become a Steenrod student next school year.
