In celebration of the life of Rev. James O’Brien, S.J., and in recognition of his unwavering faith and dedication to our community, the University extends an invitation to the public to join us for a Funeral Mass in his honor.
The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 5th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael Parish, located at 1225 National Road, Wheeling. Visitation will commence at 9:30 a.m., offering an opportunity for personal reflection and shared memories.
For those unable to attend in person, we understand the desire to be present in spirit. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed on the St. Michael Parish Facebook page, accessible at St. Michael Parish – Wheeling, “Almost Heaven” West Virginia.
Following the memorial service, a reception in Reverend James O’Brien, S.J.’s honor will be held in the Benedum Room at Wheeling University. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made in Father O’Brien’s name to Wheeling University’s Office of Advancement, where a memorial fund has been created in his name.
As we navigate this time of loss, we remember Father O’Brien’s unwavering faith, his compassionate service, and his dedication to our community. We ask that you keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers, finding solace in the countless lives he touched and the legacy he leaves behind.
