Home Cooking with Jess – Dump Cake

There are tons of recipes using boxed cake mix to make desserts.  I’ve mixed devils food cake mix with a can of pumpkin to make brownies.  Mix yellow cake mix with peanut butter and eggs for quick on cookies.  Angle food cake with a can of crushed pineapple for a fluffy cake.

Layer frozen berrys and topped with white cake mix and butter for a cobbler. A can of pumpkin and spice cake for muffins.  There are endless possibilities.  But the one currently taking the internet by storm was tested by a couple members of the Connect in the Kitchen Facebook group. These pictures are from my sweet and hilarious friend Kathy who always shares great meals that her whole family eats.

While the original recipe calls for yellow cake mix and peaches, you could change up the cake flavor and the use different canned fruit or pie filling with similar results.

Peach slices on top of a cake mix.
Peaches can replace apples in the Dump Cake, too.

Ingredients:

  • 1 box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch
  • 1 1/2 sticks of butter
  • 1 box of yellow cake mix
  • 2 cans of sliced peaches
A cake in a pan.
The cake is baked at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

Instructions:

  1. Grease a 9 x 13 pan.
  2. Covered the bottom in Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.
  3. Topped that with two large cans of peaches.
  4. Then you dump the cake mix all over the peaches, careful not to smoosh it in. Want it just resting on top.
  5. Top the whole thing with a stick and half of sliced butter.
  6. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
