Who doesn’t love homemade noodles? They are delicious and they are worth the effort. Holidays are great times for these homemade goodies, but THESE noodles, folks, are not homemade.
Reames Homestyle Egg Noodles have been a Thanksgiving tradition on our dinner table since I was little. Why would I share this tradition after Thanksgiving? Because since they aren’t homemade, you can pull them from the freezer and have them as a side dish anytime you would like!
I know a lot of people use them in chicken noodle soup, but I like to “cake” them up by slow boiling them in chicken stock. This process makes the noodles form their own thick sauce/gravy. An item to note, with this method, you have to babysit the pot the whole time it’s cooking because the noodles will stick.
My Dad uses Reames noodles in a crockpot chicken dish where he cooks chicken breast, shreds it, adds cream of chicken, butter, chicken broth and these noodles. I looked Reams up on Pinterest and there are a lot of easy recipes. These bags often go on sale for 2/$5 which makes for a super affordable dish.
Ingredients:
- 2 packages of frozen Reames homemade style egg noodles
- 6 cups of chicken stock/broth
Directions:
- Bring 4 cups of stock/broth to a boil.
- Add noodles and return to a boil.
- Reduce heat to medium.
- Stir until broth is mostly absorbed and add another cup of broth.
- Stir until the broth is incorporated, and noodles and sauce are thick.
- Now just salt and pepper to taste and serve!
Enjoy.
