This is the time of year when I am most asked for some recipes and I certainly don’t mind at all!  While I have definitely got more into cooking actual meals over the last few years, when I first started cooking, I loved making appetizers.

This year, those tailgating appetizer spreads were even more special to me because I was asked to do a cooking segment for the Steelers pregame show, Black and Gold Today.  The broadcast show is produced in Erie, Pennsylvania, and I knew the promotions manager there from my 10 year career with the same title.  She saw my food pics weekly and asked if I was interested in a weekly segment on the show.  Fast forward to the fall of 2021 and I had the amazing Kent Urbanski in my kitchen with a camera.

My first reaction was “Steelers? Cooking? Heck yeah I’m in!”

My second reaction was, “… but I’m an almost 40-year-old mom of 3 who hasn’t even been an on-air talent! WHY would I do this?!”

Well, because I love the excitement of trying new things. And I love talking about football and food and motivating people to get in their kitchens.  Also, anything attaching me to the team that I have been a fan of since my youth sounds like an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.

I still can’t fully grasp that it happened, but I loved every second.   It was such a great experience.

To fellow foodies and football fans, happy Super Bowl Weekend!

Here are some of my favorite tailgating recipes that I make lots of during football season:
