Home Cooking with Jess – The Big Game

When the Steelers season ends, so does my reason to make tailgate spreads on Sundays.  That is, until Super Bowl Sunday.  I’ll break out all of the favorites that I can make with what I have in my pantry for one last hoorah before the 6 month football dry spell.  What are my favorites?

Well, I choose favorites not just based on my palette, but also on the comments of the folks who feast at my house on Sundays.  For kids, pepperoni rolls.  Hands down.  But those mini meatball hoagies are also a win for all ages.   I would say the top apps are bacon wrapped cheese stuffed pickles and  Armadillo eggs (jalapenos stuffed with cheese, wrapped in sausage AND bacon), followed by stuffed mushrooms.

If we are talking dips, the easy and super tasty queso and sausage dip is great.  Beer cheese is also a must, and if you’re up for the challenge, “pretzel” some dough for it.  If you’re a buffalo chicken dip fan, please try it with real bleu cheese.  Game changer!  For your convenience, below are a list of the ones I have mentioned a few others and you can’t go wrong with any of them.  Make sure to check out some local folks sharing their favorites on the Connect in the Kitchen group on Facebook.

The plan for Super Bowl Sunday is to make a lot of food and and enjoy the NFL championship.
