Homebuilders Association Donates to Park Builders

-

Wheeling Park High School students in the Career and Technical Education Carpentry Program heard an important message from a special guest on Wednesday.

Northern Panhandle Home Builders Association President Jim Baker visited the school, and he presented CTE teacher Wil Myers and Park Assistant Principal and CTE Director Stephanie Bugaj with a check for $1,500. The donation will benefit the school’s carpentry program, which is known as the “Park Builders.” Baker said the donation was the result of the Home Builders’ annual golf outing, which was created to raise awareness about the organization.

Baker said the donation wasn’t the only reason he visited the school. He said he also wanted to speak to the students about their career paths, and he told them that there are wonderful careers waiting for them in carpentry and as home builders.

“They’ve chosen a great field,” Baker said. “There are many opportunities out there for them.”

Bugaj and Myers thanked Baker for his donation and his discussion with the students. Myers, who is a Wheeling Park graduate and a “completer” in the school’s CTE program, also told students how the CTE program at Park was a benefit to him.
