WHEELING, WV — The Wheeling community came together in a big way to support local musician Jule Carenbauer, who was deeply impacted by the devastating floods this past June. Inspired by Jule’s own philanthropic endeavors, event organizer Julia Steinmetz-Bencze rallied friends and local businesses to help. Carenbauer himself has played for free to help the community in the aftermath of both the Covid-19 pandemic and June’s floods.
The fundraiser event, Jamming for Jule, was a tremendous success—raising over $1,500 through generous door donations, a lively 50/50 raffle, and a popular pick-a-prize auction. Hosted at Generations, the event featured performances by The Muddle, The Dad Bods, Robert J. Gaudio, Timothy McCormick, and Aloha Productions, who all donated their time and talent to help lift up a fellow artist in need.
Steinmetz-Bencze expressed heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals and businesses that made the evening possible:
“I can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity and community spirit. From the musicians who donated their time to the businesses and friends who gave so freely of their time, effort, and donations, this event was truly a labor of love for Jule.”
The event was further bolstered by generous contributions from the following local businesses:
- Wilson Lodge Oglebay Resort
- DiCarlo’s
- Riesbeck’s
- Brew Keepers
- LongHorn Steakhouse
- Fredrick’s Day Spa
- River City
- Abby’s
- Taylor Made Printing
- Greco’s Pizza
- Uncle Pete’s
- Wheeling Flower Shop
- Antiques on the Market
- Grandpa Joe’s Candy
- Cheddar’s
“The outpouring of support shows what makes this community so special,” Steinmetz-Bencze added. “When one of our own is in need, we show up. Jule has touched so many lives with his music—this was our way of giving back.”
The funds raised will go directly to Jule Carenbauer to assist with ongoing recovery and rebuilding his home. Additional donations can still be provided via Venmo to @Juliaaaa13 or https://account.venmo.com/u/Juliaaaa13
