This guy is a, “grinder,” getting the GM job done each shift to the best of his abilities while following company policies.

Of course, that was life before a pandemic paused much of the world let alone the Upper Ohio Valley.

Once upon a short time ago, Parkersburg native Jay Morgan guided the Red Lobster staff at the Ohio Valley Plaza near St. Clairsville just as he had for 25 years, but the past seven weeks have been far different than “the weeds” any evening of the week provided. We like our seafood here in the region, and goodness, do we love those yummy pre-dinner biscuits.

But beginning today, a crew of managers will open an eatery they didn’t know would ever do business again because of COVID-19 and the unease a paranoid public. Curbside service is different, though, and it began at 11:30 a.m. today and will continue until 8:30 p.m. through Friday, and Saturday and Sunday, it’s 11 a.m.-9:30 p.m.

And yes, Red Lobster will have those biscuits … those pre-dinner, bring-them-to-the-table-now snacks that usually force leftovers to be taken home. Yeah, those biscuits.

Once the restaurant was closed several weeks ago, did you believe it would ever re-open?

I was truly afraid the restaurant wouldn’t reopen until Covid-19 restrictions were lifted.  At the time we closed there was more uncertainty and St.C was closed due to low takeout sales.

Please explain how the curbside service will work at Red Lobster and what menu items are available.

During our time away, Red Lobster developed a simpler way to execute the menu with many great favorites. You can order individual meals or family deals. Best way is to go to www.redlobster.com or call 740-699-0344 and follow prompts.  You can pick up your takeout inside.

When the dining room was open, how many biscuits would the customers eat per week at the St. Clairsville location?

7500 biscuits per week!  Guests have even asked why the boxed mix wasn’t as good…I tell them it is made with love!

When the dining room is permitted to re-open, what will be the maximum capacity be and how does that number compare to when there were no distancing restrictions?

Gov. Dewine hasn’t announced any plan yet for restaurants. We are anticipating six-feet social distancing and our crew wearing masks everywhere.

How big of an impact do you expect COVID-19 to have on the food service industry in the Upper Ohio Valley and across the country?

The Covid-19 crisis has devastated the restaurant industry locally and countrywide. This is the new normal now and we can only pray to get back to the past with even safer conditions and tastier food.
