All Hail the King of Harrison County, he being Robert C. Byrd star running back Jeremiah King.

King and company welcome No. 1 an undefeated Lincoln to Clarksburg and sent it packing on the heals of a 35-13 defeat.

Highlighting the evening was the performance from King, who totaled 66 yards on 29 carries. His career total now stands at 5,884 and counting. King added three TDs on the evening.

King will likely eclipse the 6,000-yard mark, likely the next game. But he’s already become the leading rusher in Harrison County history, surpassing the career mark of Santino Cava, who totaled 5,798.

Yes, They Can Pass

Independence headed not the battle with Midland Trail without nine players, including Kennedy Award frontrunner Atticus Goodson.

It took Indy one quarter to get untracked, but once it did, the visitors rolled to a 60-21 win. They did so behind the passing of Logan Phalin. Phalin threw for 271 yards on 9-of-20 passing with four touchdowns.

Phalin also ran for 117 yards on 11 carries, totaling two touchdowns.

Aiding Phalin and the Indy offense was the huge rushing numbers amassed by Judah Price. In Atticus Goodson’s absence, he ran for 245 yards and three touchdowns.

The Friday ‘Knight’ Hookup

Wheeling Central quarterback Michael Toepfer took the phrase “favorite target” to new heights against Martins Ferry.

The Maroon Knights’ senior QB threw for 232 yards and four touchdowns, all four of which fell into the capable hands of classmate Caleb Ratcliff, who finished with five receptions for 155 yards in a convincing 47-6 victory.

Central improved to 5-2 with a chance at a ton of bonus points upcoming as the Knights will face St. Clairsville (7-1) at Red Devils Stadium on Thursday.

Trey Dunn and the South Charleston Black Eagles’ offense returned to form last week in a 38-21 win against Parkersburg.

Dunn had his best game statistically of the season, throwing for 358 yards and two touchdowns on 21 of 28 passing. He added another score on the ground. Dunn and company will have another chance to put up big numbers this week as they take on Riverside.

Isaac Ball, Cameron: Ball logged 15 carries and turned that into 265 yards and two touchdowns as the surging Dragons ran roughshod through Valley, 62-8.

Brent Phillips, Jerrae Hawkins, Wheeling Park: Phillips passed for 284 yards and five touchdowns in the Patriots 41-6 win at Morgantown. Five of those passes went to the speedy Hawkins, who totaled 138 yards and two touchdowns.

Hudson Clement, Martinsburg: Clement caught 13 passes for 260 yards and two touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ romp against Riverside (Ohio).

Abe Fenwick, George Washington: Fenwick fired for 317 passing yards and seven, yes seven touchdowns, against Riverside.

Sam Bradfield, Keyser: Golden Tornado back ran for 244 yards and four touchdowns while adding 95 receiving yards against Point Pleasant.
