Main Street Bank ‘Fantasy in Lights’ Parade Set for November 18 in Downtown Wheeling

-

The Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce Parade Committee is pleased to announce that it will be holding the annual Main Street Bank ‘Fantasy in Lights’ Parade on Friday, November 18, 2022. The parade will follow its usual route with a slight adjustment due to ongoing road construction Downtown.

The Main Street Bank ‘Fantasy in Lights’ Parade will line up in Centre Market and travel across the Market Street Bridge onto Market Street in Downtown Wheeling, turn left at 12th Street, and continue south on Main Street before ending past Main Street Bank where Santa will light the Main Street Bank Christmas tree to usher in the holiday season. The Parade Committee thanks the West Virginia Division of Highways for ensuring the Market Street Bridge will be open and safe for travel during the event.

This year, the Parade Committee has selected two Grand Marshals: City Manager Bob Herron will be honored for his support of the annual holiday event over the last 20 years; and Ronnie Green is also being recognized for his dedicated work in organizing the Debbie Green Race for 25 years.

“The Wheeling Chamber is an important organization in our community, and the Main Street Bank Fantasy in Lights parade is one of the top events in Wheeling,” Herron said. “I am honored to be chosen as a Grand Marshal.”

Green said he is looking forward to the experience. “I am overwhelmed being chosen as a Grand Marshal. I attended the parade as a child and now being honored as a Grand Marshal for my service to the City is gratifying.”

Bands, clubs, organizations, dance teams, and businesses are all encouraged to fill out the application for an entry in the Parade. Applications can be found on the Wheeling Area Chamber of Commerce website and are due back, completed, by Friday, October 21. This year there will be no music restrictions for the bands and dance teams wishing to take part.

WTRF-TV is the media partner broadcasting the annual event and will present the Main Street Bank ‘Fantasy in Lights’ Parade on network television, while livestreaming on their website and Facebook pages.

Main Street Bank is once again the presenting partner of the Parade and will hold a special family-friendly tree lighting event directly following the conclusion of the ‘Fantasy in Lights’ Parade.

Interested applicants can contact Laurie Conway, Director of Marketing and Communications at (304) 233-2575 with any questions.
