Create West Virginia, a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating West Virginia’s innovation economy, will host a series of meetings for West Virginia University alumni and stakeholders to meet and share their ideas and visions for a WVU of the future.

The series of meetings, titled “Create West Virginia Visioning Sessions for a Future WVU,” will be held in Charleston, Wheeling, Martinsburg, and Morgantown. The results of the meetings will be aggregated and presented as a report to the WVU Board of Governors on Friday, September 8.

The first gathering is slated for 6 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, August 29, in the Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation Meeting Room at the Main Kanawha County Public Library in Charleston.

Planning is underway for meetings in Wheeling, Wednesday, August 30; Thursday, August 31 in Martinsburg, and Wednesday, September 6 in Morgantown, at locations and times to be announced on the CreateWV.org website.

Rebecca Kimmons, a founding member of Create West Virginia and Dan Page, the founding editor-in-chief of the State Journal, will facilitate the meetings.  Both are graduates of the WVU School of Journalism, 1971.

“These meetings are open to anyone who has an interest in the future of West Virginia University,” Kimmons said. “We feel that the Board of Governors and the administration of WVU need to hear what graduates educated at West Virginia University want our flagship university to be.”
