Well known NFL commentator and writer Mike Florio so enjoyed his summer visit to Wheeling when a record number of people packed the Library’s auditorium to meet him, that he’s coming back to his hometown for Lunch With Books at the Ohio County Public Library for a special Friday program on December 15 at 1 PM.

The new book is called “On Our Way Home.”

Book description:

John Persepio picked a hell of a time to start seeing ghosts.

Three days before Christmas and with a client’s trial headed for the jury, Persepio starts running into a feisty old man, everywhere he goes. As John’s life spins out of control amid the holiday revelry, the one constant presence becomes the old man. And soon the old man’s wife. And eventually someone else.

On Our Way Home lands at the intersection of A Christmas Carol and It’s A Wonderful Life to create a new tradition that will unite generations, reaffirm family bonds, and stir deep feelings of nostalgia. Before it all ends, John faces a very important and very unexpected question, one that he must resolve quickly.

If you read On Our Way Home this holiday season, you will make a habit of reading it every holiday season — and you will make sure your parents and children read it, too.

Mike Florio is one of the leading writers, reporters, and commentators covering the NFL. His website, ProFootballTalk.com, has served as the primary online clearinghouse for all NFL news and analysis for more than two decades.

He carried around the basic idea for On Our Way Home for more than 10 years before writing all of it during a recent December. He hopes you will enjoy reading it as much as he enjoyed writing it.

“It moves quickly,” Florio said. “And it’s a unique story that carries important messages about family, redemption, and reconciliation.”

Mike will have plenty of copies with him. The Amazon price is $3.99 for the ebook and $9.99 for paperback. The proceeds from the sale of the Christmas book benefit the Human Society of Harrison County, a local no-kill shelter that provides care and feeding for rescued dogs and cats that are looking for a good home. “In one fell swoop,” Florio notes, “you can support a good cause and grab some quick and easy (and cheap) Christmas gifts.”

Florio will also bring copies of his Wheeling-set mob book Father of Mine for those who missed out last time.

The Library will have hot chocolate, Christmas cookies and other treats for attendees of this special event. Call 304-232-0244, or visit ohiocountylibrary.org for more information.
