Moundsville Rotary Club Donates Essential Items to Youth Services System

MOUNDSVILLE, WV – The Moundsville Rotary Club has generously provided Youth Services System, Inc. (YSS) with a large donation of essential items for youth shelters, including sweatshirts, undergarments, and hygiene necessities. These contributions will support youth in crisis who rely on YSS for emergency shelter and services.

YSS has been a vital resource for at-risk youth, providing emergency shelter and support. Facilities like Samaritan House and Helinski Shelter serve as cornerstones of care for youth in need.

The donation drive, ‘Drawers for a Cause’, was led by Amanda Welsch, Director of Alumni Affairs at West Liberty University and a member of the YSS Board of Directors. Collection sites were set up at West Liberty University, Vagabond Kitchen, and the St. Clairsville Area Chamber of Commerce office throughout January. Additional donations were generated through Vagabond Kitchen’s Benefit Burger, with a portion of the proceeds supporting YSS.

“When we support our youth, we strengthen our entire community,” said Amanda Welsch. “It’s so nice to see YSS and Rotary work together, two organizations dedicated to making a real difference.”

During the Moundsville Rotary Club meeting, YSS Director of Development and Public Relations Tammy Kruse accepted the donations and expressed her gratitude. She emphasized the ongoing need for community support to ensure local youth have access to essential care and resources.

The Moundsville Rotary Club, serving Marshall County, West Virginia, meets every Wednesday at noon at Perkins in Moundsville. The club aligns with Rotary International’s mission to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace.
