Murder Suspects Discovered, Arrested in Belmont County

On Monday, July 7th, 2025, The Belmont County Sheriff’s office was notified by federal authorities that a wanted suspect for Murder was possibly in Belmont County.  Detectives with the B.C.S.O. Criminal Interdiction Unit and Bellaire PD, located 42-year-old Devin Roberts of Cleveland in a vehicle in Bellaire, Ohio.

Mr. Roberts had a murder warrant out of Cleveland, as well as probation violation charges from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office. B.C.S.O. Detectives followed Mr. Roberts until Units from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and federal authorities were able to safely take him into custody in Brilliant, Ohio.

On Wednesday July 9th, 2025; The Belmont County Sheriff’s Office was once again notified of another murder suspect possibly in Belmont County. Several Detectives from B.C.S.O. were able to locate two suspects at a local hotel in the St. Clairsville area. Both suspects were wanted in connection to a murder in the Washington Pennsylvania area. 

Sheriff’s Detectives and Road Patrol units were able to take both subjects into custody without incident.  Arrested were 37-year-old Michael Coury Pyles of New Martinville and 29-year-old Alexis Podlasiak of Powhatan Point. Both are being held in the Belmont County jail on multiple charges.

A small child was also with both named suspects when they were arrested. Belmont County Children’s Services came to the scene and was given custody of the child.

Sheriff James Zusack is proud of the hard work and dedication of the men and women of the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office who are always up to the challenge to provide justice to the victims and loved ones of these heinous crimes.
