West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice recently appointed three new members to the West Liberty University Board of Governors. The new appointees are Arlene Brantley, David H. McKinley and Stephanie Shaw.
The board will welcome the new members to its June 2, 2021 regular meeting which can be attended either in-person or via Zoom.
Brantley is a Google account executive for a Fortune 500 enterprise company in the Southeast. Her duties include collaborating with C level executives to support their digital transformation strategies to grow, evolve and meet the changing needs of their global customers and workforce.
Brantley earned an MBA from Kennesaw State University Michael J. Coles College of Business, Georgia. Prior to that she earned a bachelor of arts degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J.
Brantley is a resident of Atlanta, Ga.
McKinley is the president and chief investment officer for McKinley Carter Wealth Services, a company he founded in 2003 that is headquartered in Wheeling.
Under his leadership, McKinley Carter has grown to be among the largest and fastest-growing wealth management firms, recognized for excellence in our care for clients and colleagues. CNBC named McKinley Carter to its “Top 100 of U.S. Fee-Only Wealth Managers” list.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from West Liberty University. He has completed non-degree programs at a variety of academic institutions, including Harvard Business School, The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and College for Financial Planning.
McKinley is a resident of Wheeling.
Shaw is vice president for Enterprise Technology for the Wendy’s Company. Her responsibilities include partnering with corporate business functions to deliver enterprise technology solutions that align to Wendy’s strategic goals.
In 2019, she was recognized as a ComSpark Central Ohio Tech Power Player. In 2021, she was recognized as one of the National Council’s Top 100 Women in Technology.
A native of West Virginia, she holds a bachelor of science in business administration with a specialization in marketing from WLU and a master degree in labor relations from West Virginia University.
Shaw is a resident of Columbus, Ohio.
The three new members replace outgoing members Theresa Toriseva, Christina Williams and Patrick Ford.
These newest members join a board led by Chairman Rich Lucas of Wheeling. It also includes the following members: Jack Adams (secretary), McMurray, Pa.; Kelly Baker (WLU staff member), Wheeling; Michael J. Baker, Wheeling; Joseph W. Carey, New York, NY; Richard Carter, Wheeling; Professor Linda Cowan (faculty member), Wheeling; Dr. Jamie Evick, Glen Dale, W.Va. and Isabella Yakicic (student government president), Sidman, Pa.
The West Liberty University Board of Governors was created by the West Virginia Legislature as its governing body and consists of nine members appointed by the Governor of West Virginia and three elected representatives by students, faculty, and staff.
The Board is the principal policy-making and advisory body on all matters relating to, and affecting the university’s mission.
West Liberty University is West Virginia’s oldest institution of higher education.
