Newbridge Academy, NB Cafe and Wheeling’s newest outdoor playspace on Market Plaza all celebrate their Grand Opening this Saturday, October 19th.

The community is invited to tour Wheeling’s newest childcare center, Newbridge Academy for Kids. The academy is situated in a beautifully restored historic building on the corner of 10th and Main Street in Downtown Wheeling. The day will be marked with live music, fun on the plaza, ½ price drinks at NB Cafe, tours of Newbridge Center, and playtime for kids on the new playground.

The historic Newbridge Center was built in 1892 and has been home to CA House Music, Doc Williams Country Store, The Children’s Museum of the Upper Ohio Valley, H&R Block, Teletech and the FBI. Over the years the structure has been referred to as the Hawley Block, The Ohio Valley Building, and the Children’s Museum Building.

The building recently went through a complete renovation and now houses Newbridge Academy for Kids and NB Cafe. There is also a new completely enclosed natural play area behind the building on Market Plaza which opens to the public this weekend.

“There has been so much curiosity about what we are doing with this building,” said Chris Figaretti, pastor of Newbridge Church, “that we thought it would be fun to open the finished building to our community for tours and celebration. It was such a huge undertaking and the building is brand new on the inside. It really is something to see.”

Tours of the building, live music in NB Cafe and activities on the plaza will be going on from 10am to 2pm. Live music will be happening again in NB Cafe in the evening from 6-8 p.m. and the Cafe will be open from 6 a.m. – 10 p.m.

Come grab a 1/2 priced Coffee Shop Drink at NB Cafe, and enjoy some of the great changes going on in downtown Wheeling. The whole community is invited for an inside look at Wheeling’s latest turnaround project.
