School system staff members 50 years of age and older who completed the required initial survey are scheduled to receive the COVID-19 vaccination from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at Wheeling Park High School. 

Ohio County Schools Special Education Director Leah Stout is coordinating the vaccination process for the school system. She noted that educators from private and parochial schools will be receiving the vaccination as well. 

“The safety of our students and staff members is of the utmost importance,” Stout said. “COVID-19 has created a difficult time, so this an effort to make our teachers feel comfortable in returning to their classrooms. We’ve appreciated the patience of our students, teachers and parents.” 

Ohio County Schools Superintendent Kim Miller said Friday’s vaccination clinic is an important event for Wheeling and Ohio County. 

“I’m thrilled the vaccines are available for the educators in Ohio County Schools and the other schools in our community,” Miller said. “This benefits our employees, students and local residents. This is an important step in returning to normalcy.”  

Staff members receiving the vaccinations at Wheeling Park High School should follow the guidelines below:  

  • Use the WPHS Activity Entrance  
  • Report to the Food Court  
  • Station 1: Registration  
  • Station 2: Holding area – Used to socially distance while waiting to be vaccinated  
  • Station 3: Vaccine Administration  
  • Station 4: Beneke Theater – 15 – 30-minute observation period following the vaccination  
  • Exit through the temporary Main Entrance
