Oglebay’s ‘Boo at the Zoo’ Kicks Off October 6

Beginning October 6, ghouls and goblins of all ages can join in on the exciting and spooky fun at the annual “Boo at the Zoo” event, hosted by Oglebay Good Zoo in Wheeling, WV. The fall fundraiser is presented by the law firm of Bordas & Bordas and will take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays in October.

And new this year, the Good Zoo is offering an additional giveaway called the “Year for Zoo and DQ Giveaway,” sponsored by the Upper Ohio Valley Dairy Queen. Each weekend in October, one lucky boy or girl will have the chance to win a year’s supply of Mini Blizzards and a zoo membership.

Children are encouraged to dress up in costumes, bring their treat bags and collect delicious goodies from the stations located along the outdoor walking path of the zoo. Guests can also enjoy other exciting activities such as an interactive scavenger hunt, a spooky train ride, the Jumbo Jumper™ Air Pillow, and low ropes course.

“Boo at the Zoo” will take place on Fridays from 5–8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m.–8 p.m.

2023 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Year for Zoo and DQ Giveaway
    One winner will be chosen each weekend to receive a zoo membership and 12 months of Mini Blizzards at participating restaurants owned by Upper Ohio Valley Dairy Queen.

  • Sweet Treats
    Ghoulish guests ages 3-12 receive delicious goodies from treat stations located along the zoo’s outdoor walking path
  • Digital Scavenger Hunt
    Guests can unlock clues by scanning QR codes throughout the zoo. Upon completion, they can enter to win spooktacular zoo prizes.
  • Spooky Train Ride
    This family-friendly “spooky” train ride adventures throughout areas of the zoo and passes the Jumbo Jumper!
  • Daytime Hours
    Daytime hours allow guests to celebrate the season with their favorite Good Zoo animals which will remain in their habitats throughout the event during daylight hours. Online tickets for the event are encouraged.
