Ohio County Robotics Yields Impressive Results at State Tournament

In addition to the state title, X-Ray also earned the Excellence Award and the Robot Skills Champion Award. Their combined awards are known as the “Triple Crown” in robotics.

Over the last several days, Ohio County Robotics competed in the WV State Robotics tournament in hope of punching their ticket to the annual Worlds Competition, Vex Robotics’ Signature Event in Dallas, Texas.  

Wheeling Park High School’s series of teams, the Iron Patriots, had three teams qualify for the World competition.  This is their fourth consecutive state championship title.  Iron Patriots: X-Ray and Iron Patriots: Yikes were the tournament champions.  Iron Patriots: Platypus were tournament finalists also earning their bid to Worlds.  In addition to the state title, X-Ray also earned the Excellence Award and the Robot Skills Champion Award.  Their combined awards are known as the “Triple Crown” in robotics. 

OCS Middle School programs also dominated competitively during their downstate experience.  Warwood Middle School Steel’s Vikings competed in the finals and Triadelphia Middle School’s Robo Raiders claimed the state championship title.  Both teams have earned the bid to Worlds.

OCS Robotics is in its 4th year with countywide, competitive teams with a total of 16 robotics teams across both middle school and high school levels.   Six teams represent Wheeling Park High School and 10 teams represent the various middle schools of Ohio County.
