Ohio County Sheriff to Stage Civil Service Examination

POSTED – October 26, 2021 – The Ohio County Deputy Sheriff’s – Civil Service Commission has announced
the next Civil Service Examination for Deputy Sheriff.

The Written Examination will be held on 2 dates:

  • Wednesday December 8, 2021, at 7:00pm and again on Saturday December 11, 2021, at 9:00am.
    Physical Agility Test will be held at a later date.

    the Examination. Applications must be submitted no later than 5:00 pm on November 19, 2021.
    • Starting Salary (approximately)
    o $44,160 for Non-Certified, $21.23 an hour
    o $47,174 for WV Certified Officers, $22.68 an hour
    • Longevity Pay
    • Full Medical/Dental/Eye/Life Insurance
    • Take-Home Cruiser Policy
    • $900.00 Clothing Allowance per year
    • Vacation/Sick/Holiday time given in accordance with State Code
    • Requirements:
    o AGE: All applicants shall not be less than 18 nor more than 45 years of age at the time of the examination
    o MILITARY/LAW ENFORCEMENT: Any applicant seeking preference as a veteran or as certified West Virginia Law
    Enforcement must provide proof of military service (Form DD214), and or proof of your current law enforcement
    certification on or before the time of examination.
    o EDUCATION: All applicants must have a High School education or equivalency and provide documentation.
