As soon as the “Conquer the Cones Campaign” was introduced last week, social media platforms exploded with support and promotion of the 13 participating restaurants.
The eateries all are located between 10th and 16th streets in downtown Wheeling, the area impacted most by the $32 million streetscape project. The three-year makeover includes sidewalks, access ramps, trees, sidewalks, bump-outs, new signalization, and paved roadways. The work began in November 2022 and is not expected to be completed until mid-2025.
Bob Heldreth, VP of marketing for Panhandle Cleaning and Restoration, said the corporation will remain a “Conquer the Cones” sponsor but those interested in becoming a “prize sponsor” should contact him at 304-830-2105. Panhandle would continue supplying necessary materials for collecting entries, and the prize sponsor would finance the $1,000 prize and conduct the winner draw on a platform of their choice.
Participants are reminded to check the hours of operation for each restaurant.
The winner for the first quarter will be announced on April 1.
