It’s our “best defense”. It reduces “our spray”. Helps stop “the spread”.
“If we would all just wear our masks” we’ve heard time and time again.
So, that’s what I say we do.
When I am out in public at stores and restaurants, I wear a mask and see a vast majority of folks wearing them, but not all. Plus, many who are covering their mouths are not covering their noses, and that’s a problem, of course, because of the germs that are nasally spread, too.
Adhering to the requirements is responsible, and my family members do just that because none of us know if we are asymptomatic when we choose to leave our homes. We also have chosen to avoid crowds, limit our dine-in outings, and distance from those not wearing masks.
The time has arrived, though, for all us to test the mask theory. The science really does make sense, so all we have to do is properly wear a face covering everywhere we go for at least a month so we can finally conclusively confirm or deny what we’ve been told for nearly 10 months.
I have a collection of masks, as I am sure many of you do, and I believe in having fun with the whole damned situation because, well, why not? There are sports ones and holiday ones, and I wish someone would make me – quickly – a brown colored mask with a red nose (“Rudolph, with your nose so bright, won’t you guide my sleigh tonight?”). I would wear that everywhere.
For 10 months, mask, mask, mask, and with the alarming increases in positive cases, hospitalizations, and death across the country, the same narrative will persist. So why not? Wear one. In most cases, it’s not for a long period of time.
If, somehow, we the people could manage to persuade 340 million Americans to participate, it might work. Do the masks work? Is it crap?
Wouldn’t we all like to know?
