As the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to ravage communities across the world, it is heartening to see people and businesses stepping up to offer their strength and resources to protect the most vulnerable among us. Morgantown and Wheeling and the surrounding areas have no shortage of heroes coming to the forefront, and among them are our local Right at Home employees. They are saving lives and helping to stem the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic by providing care services to senior adults and adults with disabilities in the comfort and safety of their own homes.
Social Connection
It is with great pleasure that Right at Home announces a FREE PROGRAM for individuals that live alone to combat the effects of loneliness and depression resulting from the stay at home orders due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The fear and anxiety created by this deadly virus result in people not wanting to leave the safety of their home for essential items like food and medicine, often not knowing who to contact or the options available to them like home delivery.
Once a day, someone from one of our Right at Home offices in Morgantown or Wheeling will call a homebound individual or couple and see how they are doing. Simply talking to someone outside of their home can provide a calming reassurance that someone does care and can provide them with information to keep them safe and healthy by letting them know there are resources out there to help them.
Just call one of our offices listed below and give us the name of a friend, relative, neighbor, or someone you are concerned about during this trying time. Provide us with their name, phone number, and emergency contact to call, and we will attempt to call them up to three times during the day. If there is no response, we will notify the emergency contact listed. This program is a companion check-in call. Please know that we will not be able to render medical advice or provide any assessment. If there is any cause for concern, we will call the emergency contact listed. If the emergency contact is unavailable and we feel it is a life-threatening emergency, we will call 911.
Here is a crucial point. Please let the individual know that we will be calling! We do not want to alarm them or have them think we are a scam!

Many seniors and disabled individuals have canceled or limited services to their home for added protection from the virus. The daily call is not a substitute for other services but some assurance that someone cares and is looking out for them.
We will start calling within 24 hours!

Alleviate the Burden
By providing in-home care for the most vulnerable community members, Wintermoyer’s Right at Home caregivers alleviates the burden on overfull hospitals, trying to protect those for whom the virus presents the most significant risk and providing companionship to reduce loneliness.
“Right now, we as a society are faced with an unprecedented challenge,” said Brian Petranick, CEO and President of Right at Home. “We believe that everyone should be doing what they can to protect and strengthen our communities. As a business that is uniquely well equipped to respond to this crisis, we are so proud of our Morgantown and Wheeling Right at Home family and the role they are playing.”
Risk of exposure to COVID-19 remains lowest for those who can stay in their homes and limit outside contact. Right at Home caregivers are trained extensively on limiting exposure and reducing the risk of spreading infection.
