I’m watching the protests that are unfolding across our great land, and can’t help but ask, “To what end?”
What do the protesters hope to accomplish? What’s their goal?
Like the dog chasing every car coming down the street, what would they do if they actually achieved their goal? What would the dog do if it actually caught the car?
When asked by members of the media, the protesters mumble something about removing a sitting President of the United States. One who not only won the Electoral College overwhelmingly but also won the popular vote by a significant margin. All in an election that was not challenged on procedural or mechanical grounds.
Their message is “hate orange man.” Hate Billionaire Musk.
They make wild allegations that are far from the truth and completely unreasonable and then expect reasonable and intelligent people who comprise the swing vote to believe them, when the dribble they are peddling is obviously a lie. The pollsters have been indicating that the protests are actually backfiring, and that the public is growing weary of their hate and vitriol.
As it’s all they have, they continue.
Their method is the “sucker punch,” and it alienates everyone who watches it being used.
What the left is attempting to ram down our collective throats does not sit right with Main Street America, and it does not even come close to passing the “smell test” that most of us apply when presented with new information.
I was recently “informed” by a protester that these protests will be “as successful” at the Occupy Wall Street protests from a number of years back. What did Occupy Wall Street accomplish? There were no structural changes to free market capitalism. No changes to the trading on Wall Street.
Basically, they inconvenienced some market makers, brokers and a large number of good hard-working people. Other than that, they accomplished nothing.
Then, as quickly as the “occupy” insanity started, it fizzled out and quietly went away.
There is no reason to believe that the current round of protests will be any different. They are fractured, do not have a clear message, and they can’t articulate what they want. Confusion among their ranks reigns supreme.
We do know they are successful at driving thinking people from the Democrat Party, and while a sizable number are becoming independents, a record number are heading straight to the Republican Party.
We need to welcome them.
The Left’s “truth decay” is in full view for everyone to see. It’s time to use it to our advantage. None of us need to leave our principles behind. We need to welcome people who hold many of the same opinions we do and remember that more often than not, these former Democrats want what we do – a more perfect union.
The silly weekend protests held by the extreme Left will fizzle and disappear as we move through the spring. The voters these protesters rubbed the wrong way and have become independents and newly minted Republican won’t be going back to a party that is largely out of control.
Fellow conservatives, we need to make the most of this moment.
