Second Public Meeting for City’s Comprehensive Plan Scheduled for May 23

-

The City of Wheeling will be hosting their second of four public meetings as work continues to create a city-wide Comprehensive Plan that will guide development and policy decisions for the next 10 years. The meeting is slated for 5:30-7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 23 at Wheeling University’s Troy Theatre, 316 Washington Ave.

During this public workshop, the community will review future scenarios for potential impacts on the City’s growth and will prioritize actions and strategies that will help meet collective goals. The public is encouraged to attend. Those who participate in the meeting will have the opportunity to win a basket of items donated by the Centre Market Businesses.

The City’s Comprehensive Plan will focus on revitalization and reinvestment in public spaces, business districts and neighborhoods. A Comprehensive Plan describes a community vision and the steps to make it a reality. Comprehensive Plans make recommendations that can inform land use regulations and help guide growth and development for up to a 10-year period. The four-part planning process will be the community’s opportunity to shape city-wide priorities for the future. The plan will address the topics of youth and education; aging in place; housing; arts and culture; community development; labor and industry; land use; transportation; and resilience.

For more information about the upcoming meeting or the project as a whole, contact Wheeling’s Building & Planning Director BJ Delbert at (304) 234-3702 or via email atbdelbert@wheelingwv.gov
