Selecting that One Person

It’s not about celebrating a person, but instead it’s about heralding what that person has accomplished for the good of all of us in our community.

That’s why LEDE News will acknowledge an individual on New Year’s Eve for improving the quality of life here in the Upper Ohio Valley. Now, it’s not rare that people step up around here to help others. We see the fundraising events promoted on social media, and we go, don’t we? It’s a cultivated mindset, and we should be proud of it.

That also makes it very difficult for LEDE to single out just one individual, and please know doing so does not discount all of the efforts made by others. We are blessed because of the actions to battle against deadly diseases, cognitive decline, and mental illnesses, and when it comes to feeding our neighbors, we respond by feeding them feasts.

But there is that one person, an individual who excuses “Thank Yous” when they are offered because they believe helping others is just the right thing to do. Imagine if everyone thought the same way.

Who is it?

Male? Female? A resident of what community? An employee of a non-profit or of a private-sector business? A single parent? A native of our Valley or a newcomer?

One aspect of the individual we will reveal at this time is that the person is selfless, and the rest of the questions will be answered soon.
