St. Clairsville Celebrating National Road Bikeway June 21

Mayor Kathryn Thalman, City Council President Jim Velas, and Council members invite residents to a celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the City’s NATIONAL ROAD BIKEWAY.

The event is being held at the Chamber of Commerce Gazebo (215 Sunset Drive, St. Clairsville) on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at 6 P. M.

Following remarks by current and former City leaders who were involved in the National Road Bikeway’s creation in 1997-1998, the ongoing Ohio Department of Transportation – TAP project on the U.S. 40 Rail-Trail tunnel will be outlined.  Officials of the engineering firm which won the bid for the project’s design will lead attendees on a walk to the National Road tunnel where they will explain current and expected work which will impact the public’s use of this section of the National Road Bikeway.

Mayor Thalman “urges residents to join in the public commemoration of this 25-year anniversary which will lead to a new appreciation of the National Road Bikeway — and the decades-long efforts to develop and enhance this valuable community asset.”
