Struggling for a Topic

-

Don’t want to write about national politics because it will get misconstrued as anti-something.

  • But goodness, is it not exhausting and disgusting at the same time no matter which side of the division you are on?

Don’t want to write about COVID-19 in any way because I’m tired with terms like “quarantine” just like you are.

  • “Rona Fatigue” is a real thing, I do believe, for many of us who have adopted the “stay safe” mentality.

Can’t write about sports because, other than the Little League games taking place, there’s been nothing more than announced plans and positive cases at practice camps.

  • It would be too risky, in my opinion, if any of the major sports leagues move forward with any “new normal” form of competition.

I thought about writing about the game of Euchre, but that would mean I would have to type out T-R-U-M-P, and that might cause some commotion.

  • And yes, I will call trump if I only have both bars. Gotta count on your partner for one trick, right?

Some say writing anything critical about W.Va. Gov. Jim Justice is anti-coal, and others claim a skeptical attitude expressed about gas-and-oil truck traffic is a stance against economic development. When I’ve expressed my hope for the petrochemical “cracker” plant in Belmont County, I’ve been labeled as anti-environment, and when I’ve opposed decisions made by local government officials, anti-progress.

  • But we all have our opinions, right?

And Lord forbid I admit we still plan to ‘venture on our August vacation to South Carolina!

  • I mean, it’s a fluid situation, so we could end up in a kiddy pool on 14th Street.

So, what should I write about?
