Vandals caused a few thousand dollars of damage to the youth center inside the Martins Ferry Recreation Center, forcing the youth center's temporary closure.
Martins Ferry Schools has decided to award students who participate in both an extra curricular activity, and the Belmont County Staying Clean Club, with a free all-sports pass at the school.
Greg Harkness, a 1993 graduate of Martins Ferry High School, is coming home and will serve as the school's athletics director starting August 1. Harkness recently finished an eight-year stint in the same position at Bridgeport.
The City of Martins Ferry hosted a Meet the Candidates night for the upcoming Belmont County Commissioners race. It was held Sunday at the Martins Ferry Rec Center.
