We will think we see him, and we will think we hear him, and others may do something that triggers our love for him. When we remind each other to love one another, we will emulate him, and those occasions will please him as he peers down from his rightful place in Heaven.
But we weren’t finished with Harry Scott Mumper, were we? He would not allow it, would he? There were always the new projects for the “Clearview Cartel” and the shows with the Ohio Valley Street Survivors. Perhaps he’d decide he needed yet another garage for his beloved “Lone Tree Ranch,” or maybe it was time for a “range day” with his dear friend Craig. “Wing Nights” with his buddy “Max” were big evenings for “Mump” and his friends at Bernie’s Bar, but if Eda’s mother, Lucy, called, Lobster Sauce it was for all to enjoy.
“Mump” was either a big brother or little brother to everyone lucky enough to know him, and no matter what, he was a brother who was always there for us for whatever the task was at hand. Every single time, he was there.
And that’s because everyone was someone to “Mump,” and that is why he was our “guy,” and why a flood of love has inundated social media since Saturday. Make no mistake, “Mump” had his “guys,” too – the “car guys,” the “gun guys,” his “law enforcement guys,” his “community guys,” and his “utility guys.” And yes, of course, he had his girls, too.
We all served a positive purpose in his life as he did for us, and “Mump” loved his country, was proud of his service, and he would remind those close to him that, “With freedom comes a lot of choices for us to make, and all we can do is make the best choices we can.”
Harry Scott Mumper was proud of us. If he could help us, he helped us, and that’s because the man loved us. And he would want us to continue loving one another.
