The City of Wheeling will be hosting their third of four public workshops for the creation of a city-wide Comprehensive Plan that will guide development and policy decisions for the next 10 years. The meeting is slated for Thursday, Sept. 12 at Wheeling Park’s White Palace, 1801 National Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The meeting will begin at 5:30 p.m.

During this public workshop, the community will review areas of change for potential impacts on the City’s growth and prioritize development and public space improvements.  The community members are encouraged to attend.

“We were very pleased with the attendance at the two public workshops that were held earlier this year. We were able to gather valuable input from members of our community and we hope to continue to with that momentum as we work into phase three of the comprehensive planning process,” said Building & Planning Director BJ Delbert.

The City’s Comprehensive Plan will focus on revitalization and reinvestment in public spaces, business districts and neighborhoods. A Comprehensive Plan describes a community vision and the steps to make it a reality. Comprehensive Plans make recommendations that can inform land use regulations and help guide growth and development for up to a 10-year period. The four-part planning process will be the community’s opportunity to shape city-wide priorities for the future. The plan will address the topics of youth and education; aging in place; housing; arts and culture; community development; labor and industry; land use; transportation; and resilience.
