State-of-the-art system will improve comfort and expand accessibility

Steubenville, Ohio, Thursday, December 4, 2025– Trinity Health System, part of CommonSpirit Health, is pleased to announce a significant investment in diagnostic care with the installation of a new, state-of-the-art Open MRI system at its Wintersville location.

The new equipment—a Fuji Oasis Velocity—is the first true high-field Open MRI in the Tri-State area, dramatically improving patient comfort and accessibility for the communities served by Trinity Health System.

“Unlike traditional narrow-bore MRIs, the Open MRI design provides a significantly less stressful experience, accommodating a broader range of patients, including those who struggle with anxiety, claustrophobia, as well as pediatric and bariatric patients up to 600 pounds,” Ryan Mullen, MRI Supervisor, Trinity Health System, said. “This removes a major barrier to care, preventing delayed diagnoses and ensuring more residents can receive necessary screening without the need for sedation.”

The Fuji Oasis Velocity is a standout in the region because it combines an open environment with true high-field strength. Featuring a powerful 1.2 Tesla magnet, the system delivers the high-image quality and advanced features necessary for precise diagnoses in complex areas such as neurology and orthopedics. This enhanced diagnostic capability supports physicians and radiologists in developing more accurate treatment plans.

“At Trinity Health System, we believe high-quality healthcare should always be delivered with compassion and ease,” Mullen said. “The addition of the Fuji Oasis Velocity not only provides our community with best-in-class diagnostic imaging but also ensures that the experience is as comfortable and accessible as possible. By adding this second high-field unit to our system, we are also increasing efficiency, minimizing patient wait times, and ensuring that no one has to delay essential diagnostic testing.”
