Event is Designed to Raise Community Awareness of Breast Cancer

On Friday, Oct. 13, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Trinity Health System will host the Faith Over Fear “Pop-In” Event in its East Lobby, located at 380 Summit Avenue in Steubenville.

The pop-in observes Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which takes place throughout October. This year’s theme, Faith Over Fear, speaks to those women who are facing the uncertainty of a breast cancer diagnosis and its treatment, said Jessica Kelley, Community Outreach Specialist, Trinity Health System.

“We want to encourage women to face their fears without allowing those fears to control their lives, to push our fears to the side and replace it with faith.”

Pop-in allows people to stop by anytime

As a pop-in, Faith Over Fear is designed to accommodate different schedules. Because it runs from 8 a.m. to noon, Kelley said people can stop by anytime and stay for as long as they want.

An array of vendors and activities will be featured at the pop-in, including a free mini-mani; free chair massage; jewelry; Mary Kay; Pure Romance; Graphics In Print; Smiley Ann’s PhotoVan; door prizes; So Nuts 4 Donuts; and mini-mimosas.

Event-themed T-shirts will also be available for purchase.

Radio personality Johnny O will host a live remote broadcast, and Trinity Health System’s Images Mammography Center staff will lead tours of the facility and answer questions. The Tony Teramana Cancer Center staff will also be on hand to share their knowledge with the community.

“We want to help raise breast cancer awareness, educate the public about its symptoms and prevention, and pamper the ladies of our community,” Kelley said. “Our mission is to make the healing presence of God known by improving the health of our community, especially those most vulnerable.”

She added, “This event focuses on women who don’t always take time for themselves.”
