STEUBENVILLE, OH – September 2025 – September is nationally recognized as Pain Awareness Month, a time to increase understanding of chronic pain and highlight the resources available to those affected. At Trinity Health System, the Trinity Pain Clinic is leading efforts in the Ohio Valley to provide advanced, evidence-based solutions for patients struggling with pain.

Chronic pain affects more than 50 million Americans and is one of the leading causes of disability. For patients in Jefferson, Belmont, and surrounding counties, the Trinity Pain Clinic delivers specialized care that goes beyond traditional treatment options.

“Our mission is to restore function and improve quality of life for patients,” said Dr. Suresh Srinivasan, Director of Pain Medicine at Trinity Health System. “Pain Awareness Month is an important reminder that people do not have to live with untreated pain. We have safe, effective treatments that make a meaningful difference.”

Dr. Suresh Srinivasan is the director of pain management for Trinity Health System in Steubenville.

The Trinity Pain Clinic provides a wide range of advanced interventional pain management procedures, including:

  • Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS): Uses electrical impulses to block pain signals from reaching the brain, offering relief for patients with failed back surgery syndrome, neuropathy, or chronic leg pain.
  • Dorsal Root Ganglion (DRG) Stimulation: Precisely targets pain in hard-to-treat areas such as the pelvis, groin, or foot.
  • Peripheral Nerve Stimulation (PNS): Treats localized nerve pain and joint pain, including post-surgical and post-traumatic conditions.
  • Intrathecal Drug Delivery (Pain Pumps): Provides continuous targeted pain relief with significantly lower medication doses than oral opioids.
  • Minimally Invasive Spinal Decompression: Relieves nerve compression in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis without the need for open surgery.
  • Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Fusion: Stabilizes the SI joint, a common but underdiagnosed cause of chronic low back and pelvic pain.
  • Cancer Pain Interventions: Including nerve blocks, neurolytic procedures, and intrathecal therapy for patients whose pain is not well controlled with medications.

In addition to advanced care, the Trinity Pain Clinic plays a key role in opioid stewardship, ensuring that patients receive the safest, most effective treatments while minimizing dependence on long-term opioid medications.

This Pain Awareness Month, Trinity Health System encourages residents of Jefferson, Belmont, and surrounding counties to learn more about chronic pain management and available resources. By raising awareness and offering hope, the Trinity Pain Clinic continues its mission of healing and restoring lives across the Ohio Valley.
