MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – State Treasurer Larry Pack presented Northco Corp with an unclaimed property check of over $26,000 on Thursday, April 24.
“I am always happy when my Office is able to return this amount of money to local businesses throughout West Virginia,” Treasurer Pack said. “Even better, in this case, we are returning money to a business that supports our coal industry which is crucial to West Virginia’s economy.”
Northco Corp’s unclaimed property check, valued at $26,761, consisted of monies that came from a premium refund, turned over to the Office’s Unclaimed Property Division.
The company, located in Morgantown, focuses work on welding, fabricating, machinery, assembly of components on a project-by-project basis.
“This money can go back into our business, into our employees,” Northco Corp President Anthony Tiberi said. “This can improve the facility, improve a product, or tool that our employees are using. We will look for anything we can add to continue our legacy as a good steward to the state of West Virginia.”
The Treasurer’s Office has more than $470 million worth of unclaimed property listings in its database. Currently, Monongalia County has nearly 198,000 unclaimed property listings worth nearly $25 million for individuals, businesses, and organizations.
Treasurer Pack recently announced that his Office returned $2.3 million worth of unclaimed property to individuals, businesses, and other organizations during the month of March. Since the fiscal year began on July 1, 2024, the Office’s Unclaimed Property Division has returned more than $30 million to rightful owners, surpassing the $28 million that was returned to rightful owners during Fiscal Year 2024.
“The Unclaimed Property program in our Office is able to help individuals, organizations and cities across the state,” Treasurer Pack said. “My Office encourages West Virginians to search for lost financial assets on our website.”
