GAMES TO WATCH

Class A

Tyler Consolidated (2-5) vs Magnolia (1-6)

When: Friday, 7 p.m.

Last Week: Tyler Consolidated lost to Class A power Williamstown, 41-6. Meanwhile, Magnolia held with St. Mary’s for the first half, but the Blue Devils pulled away and won 41-7.

Why it’s important: Both programs have the slim possibility of making the postseason; both are in dire need of a win.

Whom to watch for Tyler Consolidated: Senior Quarterback Trenton Huffman will be a key factor Friday night against the Blue Eagles.

Whom to watch for Magnolia: Jason Beisel is the leader for the Blue Eagles on both sides of the ball. He is a threat for any team Magnolia faces.

Magnolia is one of many teams in Class A fighting for a possible playoff opportunity.

Wheeling Central (4-3) at Madonna (5-2)

When: Saturday, 7 p.m.

Last Week: Wheeling Central won on the road against Union Local, 35-25. Meanwhile, Madonna held off Beallsville, Ohio last week, winning by the final of 61-20.

Why it’s important: Both of these teams are seeking a berth in the Class A playoffs, and both are sitting outside of the top 16. A win over one of these two teams is greatly needed to qualify for postseason play.

Whom to watch for Wheeling Central: Jordan Waterhouse will be leading the way for the Maroon Knights on Saturday. Waterhouse is the veteran running back for the Wheeling Central offense.

Whom to watch for Madonna: Junior Quarterback Santino Arlia will be guiding the way for the Blue Dons. Last week, Arlia accounted for 337 passing yards in the 61-20 win over Beallsville.
