WFD Reports on North Wheeling House Fire

The Wheeling Fire Department responded to a house fire Saturday evening in the North Wheeling area of the city.

Crews from Station 2 returning from a recent call, noted smoke in the area coming from a residence in the 800 block of Main Street at approximately 7:15 p.m.

Firefighters searched two homes next to each other before discovering fire on both the first and second floors of the affected structure. Crews were able to extinguish the fire in about 45 minutes.

Damage was limited to the two affected floors, and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

West Virginia Route 2 was briefly closed during firefighting operations but has since reopened.
