WHEELING, W.Va. — The Wheeling Scottish Rite Event Center will host its annual Robert Burns Supper on Saturday, January 24, inviting the community to experience an evening of Scottish tradition, food, music, and celebration.

The Robert Burns Supper is a time-honored Scottish event honoring Robert Burns, one of Scotland’s most influential poets and cultural figures. While rooted in tradition, the evening is designed to be welcoming, social, and fun, offering guests a unique cultural experience in a festive atmosphere.

“This event is really about bringing people together,” said Butch Brown, organizer of the Robert Burns Supper. “You don’t have to know anything about Scottish history to enjoy it. It’s about great food, live music, laughter, and sharing a memorable night with friends and family.”

The dinner was held in the ballroom inside the Scottish Rite Cathedral.

Guests will enjoy a traditional Scottish dinner featuring cock-a-leekie soup, haggis and neeps and Highlander brisket. Desserts from Kirke’s Ice Cream will add an authentic Scottish twist to a locally loved favorite. The evening also includes live bagpipe music performed by the Macdonald Pipe Band, adding to the immersive and celebratory environment.

“The live bagpipes really set the tone for the night,” Brown continued. “It creates an energy that’s both powerful and joyful — it’s something people remember long after the evening ends.”

The event will be held at the Wheeling Scottish Rite Event Center, a venue that organizers say provides the perfect backdrop for the celebration.

“The setting plays a big role in the experience,” said Dave Blum with the Wheeling Scottish Rite Event Center. “The building adds warmth and authenticity, making it feel like more than just a dinner. It feels like a true celebration.”

A portion of all proceeds from the event will benefit the WVU Rite Care Childhood Speech and Language Clinic, supporting speech and language services for children in the region. Cocktail hour begins at 6:00 p.m., with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are limited and available now.

“This is a one-night-only event, and seats do fill quickly,” Brown added. “If you’re looking for something fun and different to do in January, this is the perfect opportunity.”
