Wheeling Symphony Orchestra Presents “Disney in Concert”

Wheeling Symphony Orchestra (WSO) announces its return to the Capitol Theatre on February 18, 2022 with its Wesbanco Capitol Concert Series performance of “Disney in Concert – Magical Music from the Movies.”

The WSO will present “Disney in Concert – Magical Music from the Movies”  on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 7:30 pm as part of its Wesbanco Capitol Concert Series.  The orchestra will be conducted by Maestro John Devlin and feature four guest vocalists and projected video clips from iconic Disney films.  Every new generation has a favorite Disney musical, whether it’s The Little MermaidBeauty and the BeastAladdinThe Lion King or Frozen. And then there are the classics, from a Mary Poppins medley to the “Yo ho” of Pirates of the Caribbean. When everyone joins together for memorable moments and melodies that Mouseketeers of all ages know by heart, it feels like a small world, after all.

I can’t think of a better way to brighten a winter weekend than the music of Disney,” says Music Director John Devlin. “Just about everyone has a relationship to the Disney films whether through their own eyes or the eyes of a child or grandchild.  The very first film my mother took me to see was The Little Mermaid, so I have very fond memories of that film, but my personal favorite is Aladdin.”

Bryan Braunlich, the WSO’s Executive Director, looks forward to the family-friendly concert.  “Children and families are always welcome at our concerts, but the music of Disney combined with film clips and four outstanding singers will obviously be a crowd favorite,” says Braunlich.  “We encourage fans of all ages to dress as their favorite Disney character for the evening.  We hope to see lots of princesses and Buzz Lightyears and Woodys coming through the doors.”

“Disney in Concert” will showcase four talented vocalists.  Andrew Johnson has toured all over the United States, Europe, and Asia, as a lead vocalist and dancer, and his performances have been broadcast on national and international television.  Andrew has performed on FOX’s The X-FactorThe Conan O’Brien Show, and the MTV Video Music Awards.  Aaron Phillips is an Ovation Award nominated actor/singer, proud member of Actor’s Equity, and can frequently be seen on film and TV.  Lisa Livesay recently lit up the stage in a headliner performance at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage entitled Laughs, Love & Light. She has been seen in the role of Glinda in the national tour of Wicked.  Whitney Claire Kaufman recently completed two years with the North American Tour of the Broadway smash-hit Mamma Mia
