WPD Arrest Suspect After Fleeing Incident on Wheeling Island

WHEELING, W.Va. – Wheeling police arrested a man over the weekend after he fled from officers during a traffic stop on Wheeling Island.

At approximately 11:20 p.m., Saturday, officers were patrolling the area of South Broadway and Ohio Streets when they attempted to stop a vehicle. The driver sped away at a high rate of speed, initiating a vehicle chase that ended on Vermont Street. The suspect then exited the car and fled on foot. Police quickly caught the individual.

During the incident, one officer sustained minor injuries.

Ricardo Stephen Harrison, 46, of Wheeling, was arrested and charged with fleeing, possession with intent to deliver, and driving revoked for DUI. Harrison was transported to the Northern Regional Jail by WPD.
