WPD Investigating Death on Wheeling Island

The Wheeling Police Department is conducting a death investigation after an older man’s body was found on Wheeling Island late Wednesday morning.

Police and fire personnel were called to the shoreline of the back channel of the Ohio River near South Wabash Street around 11:35 a.m.

At this time, no foul play is evident. The man’s body will be taken to the West Virginia Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and identification.
