West Virginia Northern Community College will host State Treasurer Riley Moore on Feb. 11 to discuss the WV Jumpstart Savings Plan. Treasurer Moore, who is a certified welder, will be welding with WVNCC faculty and students while on campus.
He will then talk with these students about the program that was signed by W.Va. Gov. Jim Justice last March. The Jumpstart Savings Plan allows students in trades to make tax-free contributions to a savings account.
Money can then be used to help cover equipment, tools, certifications, licenses, and business startup costs in a vocation or trade.
Moore’s visit will begin at 1:15 p.m. at the community college’s Industrial Technology Center. Parking will be available in the lot on the corner of 19th and Eoff streets in East Wheeling.
