Each year, Youth Services System Board of Directors recognizes Good Samaritans. The Good Samaritans are honored at an annual dinner which this year will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023.
Jill Eddy, YSS Interim Chief Executive Officer, made the announcement that Marc Abraham and Dr. Darrell Cummings would be honored at this year’s dinner. Through the work that Youth Services System does with children and adults, we know the guidance provided by these two men didn’t stop once they completed their multiple terms on the YSS board. Marc and Darrell spent three years working together from 2009- 2011 on the board and continue to work together as emeritus board members.
Jill Eddy said, “Dr. Cummings and Marc Abraham are truly Good Samaritans. Their support and guidance over the years has impacted the growth and development of YSS to achieve our mission: Creating better futures for children, families and our community.”
Marc Abraham has over 35 years responding to the needs of youth at YSS as a past board member with titles including Treasurer, Vice President, President and currently as an emeritus member. “Marc Abraham was as committed to YSS as our founder, Ron Mulholland,” Rod Lee, current YSS Board Chair said. In addition to the 35 years caring for local youth, Marc was an Associate Professor of Accounting with Belmont College, past owner of Abraham & Company PLLC and has been practicing as a Certified Public Accountant since 1982.
“Dr. Cummings was a great fit for YSS as he’s a good shephard to all in the community, so it’s only fitting that we honor him as a Good Samaritan,” Lee said. Dr. Cummings is the pastor of the well-known Bethlehem Apostolic Temple with over 43 years of pastoral work and leadership, has served on numerous councils and committees, received awards and appointments plus dedicated time serving multiple terms on the YSS board including holding the position of Board Chair. He currently serves on the emeritus board.
Ron Klug, one of YSS founding members said, “Marc always remained calm and asked great questions to help solve problems discussed during board meetings. Darrell was adamant that we help meet the basic needs of those less fortunate and was good at
addressing financial issues.”
YSS has chosen to honor a Good Samaritan every year since 2008 by hosting a dinner in celebration of the honoree’s remarkable work serving local children and families. The dinner will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at River City Restaurant and Banquets in downtown Wheeling. For more information visit www.youthservicessystem.org
