YSS and YWCA to Offer Free Recovery Coach Training in September

Youth Services System, Inc. (YSS), in conjunction with the Wheeling YWCA, is offering a Recovery Coach Academy in September for National Recovery Month. The dates are September 12-16, from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. daily. The course will be facilitated by Valery Staskey of YSS and Jennifer Sorg of the YWCA.

The Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) course is a 30-hour training offered over one week. It is nationally recognized as one of the leading courses to learn the art and practice of coaching those with substance use disorders. Anyone who is interested may sign up for the course – there are no prerequisites.

“The Recovery Coach Academy is an excellent introduction to coaching. Many of the local professionals in the field began their careers in this course,” said Staskey. “I’m very proud of the more than 170 graduates that we have trained here at YSS.”

“The YWCA has collaborated with YSS many times to offer this course to local residents,” said Sorg. “We are proud that we are able to continue to grow recovery in the Ohio Valley.”
