Answers to Issues at Wheeling Park Pool

-

Today’s issues at Wheeling Park’s public pool were the result of a new paint job not curing, according to Operations Director Nat Goudy.

Several parents have posted this evening on social media after their children left the water only to have areas of their bodies covered in light blue paint. The pool was painted prior to its delayed opening and today was the first complaints were registered.

Goudy said staff will address the issue this evening by draining the Wheeling Park pool, and tomorrow a crew will be scraping off the paint, power washing it, and then refill it.

The facility, Goudy reported, will be closed until Thursday.

“That’s the goal unless decisions are made to do some things a little earlier,” he said. “All that were painted were spots in the pool and not the entire pool, but for some reason, they did not cure. So we’ll get it emptied and clean it very well, and then fill it back up.”
