Now that Wheeling law firm Bordas & Bordas has entered into a partnership with the online sitcom, “Pittsburgh Dad,” does that mean managing general partner Jamie Bordas could make cameo appearances?

Legal advice? Game strategy? The proper way to prepare perogies?

“I really don’t think so,” Bordas said with a chuckle. “If you watch his shows, it’s really on a set for one person. Sometimes he acts like he is talking to another character, but you never see anyone else on camera. That’s why I anticipate it will remain that way.

“Plus, you want to maintain the authenticity of the show. That’s important for the show, and for us because that’s a part of what makes it so great and so enjoyable to watch,” he said. “You can already tell that he is going to do a great job maintaining that authenticity. I have told Curt that I wish I had his comedic genius.”

Pittsburgh Dad releases a weekly video recapping each Pittsburgh Steelers’ game throughout the NFL season. The firm, who is a Proud Partner of the Pittsburgh Steelers, donates $500 to the Ronald McDonald House for every sack made by the Steelers defense.

“When this opportunity came about to partner with them, I saw it as a no-brainer for us because of our growing presence in Pittsburgh and our relationship with the Steelers and what we do with the Ronald McDonald House charities and our Sacks for Kids program,” Bordas explained. “We donate $500 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities for every sack recorded by the Steelers.

“We looked at this as a way to tie all of that together because so many people in Pittsburgh and throughout the country are big fans of Pittsburgh Dad,” he said. “They watch it every week, and the thing I like about it most is that it brings comedy and humor to people and allows people to have a laugh during the week that they really do need these days during this pandemic. It makes me laugh every week, too.”

All Business?

Bordas & Bordas is a plaintiff’s litigation law firm of 17 attorneys with offices in Pittsburgh, Wheeling, W.Va., St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Moundsville, W.Va. The firm’s attorneys practice throughout the region in diverse areas of law and are licensed in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, and Texas.

Bordas and his colleagues, though, like to have fun, as well.

“I’ve always believed that if you can have some fun through your work then it sure makes the day a little better than it would have been without out it,” Bordas said. “But the biggest thing for us is being able to put some smiles on people’s faces and to assist and allow that show to continue doing that is pretty cool for us.

“Curt Wootton is a great guy; he is a WVU graduate, and he’s from Pittsburgh originally,” he revealed. “Curt put out a video announcement about our partnership, and I didn’t even know he was going to do it. He sent it to me the day before it was released and asked me what I thought of it. When I watched it, I laughed the entire time. When you let someone poke fun at you a little bit but does it in a good-spirited way, it lets potential clients know that we do have a sense of humor here.”

It’s About the Children

While Bordas & Bordas annually donates to many charities throughout the Upper Ohio Valley, the Sacks for Kids program is one that is very important to the managing general partner.

“We are starting the seventh year of the Sacks for Kids program through our partnership with the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Bordas explained. “We have donated over $188,000 to The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and Morgantown and are looking forward to watching that amount grow this season. It’s great to know that each sack is helping local families at difficult times in their lives.

“I feel the Steelers should be pretty good this year, and with the younger players, there is a lot of potential for a lot of offense,” he added. “Of course, the defense appears to be even better, so we are hoping that they not only lead the NFL in sacks again this season, but that they set a new record for sacks.”
