West Liberty Releases Vaccine Numbers

WEST LIBERTY — West Liberty University reports that 86 percent of its faculty and staff (all employees) are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. As for students, 53 percent have been fully vaccinated.

“We continue to encourage our students, staff and faculty to protect themselves and others against COVID-19 by getting fully vaccinated, if they haven’t already,” said Dr. W. Franklin Evans, WLU president. “I am grateful to all our campus family who have received the vaccine and who continue to follow our pandemic safety protocol.”

WLU pandemic protocol for fall 2021 includes:

West Liberty University continues to do surveillance testing on students not vaccinated and shares the weekly COVID-19 testing results by sending a weekly email to campus and posting numbers on its news site (westliberty.edu/news).

Tuesday, Sept. 21 testing result

  • 93 unvaccinated students tested 
  • 2 positive 

Additionally, WLU had 1 positive employee COVID-19 report made the week of Sept. 21.

Tuesday, Sept. 14 testing result:

  • 116 students tested 
  • 1 positive 

WLU had 0 employee COVID-19 positive reports the week of Sept. 14. 

Tuesday, Sept. 7 testing result:

  • 131 students tested
  • 6 positives

WLU had 2 employee COVID-19 positive reports made the week of Sept. 7.
